چکیده

The endoscopic approach has been recommended as a primary option for treating chordomas, and it is associated with better resection rates fewer surgical complications than transcranial surgery. This review aimed to assess the long-term consequences evidence in current literature regarding approach's efficacy skull-base chordoma children. A systematic was conducted based on PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE databases examine clinical outcomes endonasal surgery pediatric skull base tumors. included studies published English that employed specific research designs reported patients chordoma. Gross total (GTR) achieved 62.7% patients, while 18.09% had subtotal (STR), 13.83% near-total only. Most showed significant moderate improvement from their baseline condition no recurrence during follow-up. Our findings further endorse viable treatment

Endoscopic endonasal resection of skull base chordoma: case series and review of literature

Background: Skull base chordoma is a rare tumor with slow and progressive growth. Significance of this tumor is it’s difficult to access location in skull base. This is the reason for various proposed techniques for resection of the tumor. Endoscopic endonasal technique is a minimally invasive approach that gives surgeons opportunity of total resection of tumor and low morbidity. Total resectio...

Endoscopic resection of skull base tumours utilising the ultrasonic dissector.

OBJECTIVE We report the use and benefits of the ultrasonic dissector in the resection of difficult skull base lesions. METHOD Five case reports are presented, and the utilisation of ultrasonic dissectors in otorhinolaryngology is reviewed. RESULTS The ultrasonic dissector was found to be a useful tool during the endoscopic resection of poorly accessible skull base tumours. Safe dissection a...

Septal flip flap for anterior skull base reconstruction after endoscopic resection of sinonasal cancers: preliminary outcomes

Over the past decade surgery for sinonasal malignancies encroaching into the anterior skull base (ASB) has evolved from open craniofacial resection to the use of minimally invasive transnasal endoscopic approaches. Using these techniques, ASB reconstruction is most often performed in a multilayer fashion with autologous free grafts (fascia lata or iliotibial tract) which leads to the production...

Delayed Bilateral Symptomatic Vasospasm after Resection of a Skull Base Meningioma: Report on a New Case and Literature Review

Background and Importance: Symptomatic vasospasm is a well-known pathology associated with ruptured aneurysms. Nevertheless, this condition is rarely found as a result of skull base tumor removal. Case Presentation: We reported a new case of 40-year-old woman previously treated for a tuberculum and diaphragma sellae meningioma showing symptomatic vasospasm after twelve post-operative days wi...

Endoscopic endonasal versus open repair of anterior skull base CSF leak, meningocele, and encephalocele: a systematic review of outcomes.

BACKGROUND Repair of anterior skull base cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, encephaloceles, and meningoceles can prevent meningitis, intracranial abscess, and pneumocephalus. Various surgical techniques have been employed for repair, including open transcranial and transfacial methods. The endoscopic endonasal approach represents a minimal access but equally aggressive alternative. We conducted a...
